Gamma e know-how
CleanChanger® e BDOx2, efficienza in continuo
BD Plast Filtering Systems: Forty years of Italian-made filtration
“Today, industrial innovation only makes sense if it generates a concrete impact: Reducing waste, improving efficiency and making recycling ever more competitive” Dino Boicelli
In Bondeno, on the outskirts of Ferrara, BD Plast Filtering Systems S.r.l. has spent forty years designing and building the screen changers that allow the extrusion industry to process clean polymers. It is a technological niche that draws little attention yet plays a decisive role: from packaging to pipes, from blown film to compounds, every line must retain the contaminants present in the melt without stopping production.
A family story
The Boicelli family’s story began after the Second World War with Dante Beppino and agricultural trailers, and continued in the 1960s with his son Bruno, who sensed the potential of plastics. In 1986, Bruno and his son Dante founded BD Plast, with a clear ambition: to design and manufacture every component in-house. Flexibility and customization took the company from a small Italian business to a strategic supplier for leading German machine builders and, from 2000, for Europe, Canada and the United States. The contribution of Clarissa Frazzoli (CFO & CIO) proved decisive to the company’s digital development. In 2021, Dino Boicelli, the third generation, joined the company; he is now Corporate Manager alongside Dante Boicelli (CEO & Sales Director).
Range and know-how
BD Plast oversees the entire process, from engineering to installation at the customer’s site, with integrated CAD-CAM systems and an advanced production department. The range includes manual, hydraulic and continuous-flow screen changers, static filters, diverter valves, adapters, elbows, extrusion necks and accessories. It is no coincidence that the company describes itself as an “extrusion partner”: able to read the whole process, identify its critical points and offer fast, tailor-made solutions for both machine builders and processors and recyclers.
CleanChanger® and BDOx2, continuous efficiency
The company’s flagship product is CleanChanger®, a self-cleaning, continuous-flow hydraulic screen changer patented in Italy in 2022 and subsequently in the EU and the USA. Its automated backflushing ensures effective cleaning even at very low operating pressures: an ideal condition for compounding, pelletizing, low viscosity polymers and the recycling of highly contaminated materials. The triple-plate design keeps flow rate constant during flushing, the automatic breaker-plate extraction system — unique on the market — makes screen replacement fast and safe, while the PLC, in an Industry 4.0 perspective, enables customized recipes, monitoring and remote assistance. Alongside it, BDOx2 offers a compact and versatile solution for continuous extrusion, also proven in blown film.
“Today, industrial innovation only makes sense if it generates a concrete impact: reducing waste, improving efficiency and making recycling ever more competitive,” says Dino Boicelli.
Figures, markets and responsibility
More than fifty employees, 5,500 square metres being expanded by a further 6,000, around 1,300 machines produced every year and operating worldwide: the company’s business is split between 54% Italy and 46% exports, to Germany, Spain, Austria, France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, North America and the Far East. Its environmental commitment is tracked through the Greenhouse Gas Inventory, an 800-panel photovoltaic system and the “Seeds of Change” reforestation project with Treedom; locally, the company supports Associazione Giulia Onlus and Matilde Basket Bondeno. After PRSE, PLAST Milano and Equiplast Barcelona, this autumn will take BD Plast to new European trade fairs and, in November, to its debut at Argenplas in Buenos Aires.
